RIP Dwayne McDuffie

Comic Book Resources is reporting that Dwayne McDuffie has passed away unexpectedly . McDuffie, the co-founder of Milestone Comics and writer of several animated television shows, worked for both Marvel and DC in his career.

An ardent advocate of positive portrayals of people of color in comic books, his most famous creation is the teen-aged African-American hero, Static. The character starred in the television series Static Shock for four seasons in the early 2000s. His work for DC Comics included writing the Justice League on both the comic book page and the television screen.

McDuffie's talent and voice within the comic book industry will be greatly missed.

The news of his passing comes on the same day that his most recent screen writing project, All Star Superman, was released.
