He's the writer-director of Hellboy, Pan's Labyrinth & Hellboy II: The Golden Army. He's the producer of The Orphanage, Splice and Biutiful. He was going to direct The Hobbit, and now he's moved on to At the Mountains of Madness.
I think Guillermo del Toro has one of the most interesting artistic visions in film today, and I guess The New Yorker agrees, b/c they just devoted what amounts to 17 single-spaced pages to him in their latest issue. If you like stuff that's cool, read this article.
